Just got myself a ticket for my last ever visit to the Bolyen!!
I am back in the South Bank where it all started for me as a kid with my dear Uncle Jim. He used to take me and my brother to stand on the South Bank for the reserve matches in the mid 60's.
For you youngsters in those days the reserve games were played at Upton Park on the Saturdays when the home team were away. It was the perfect way for a kid of 7 or 8 to get in the habit of spending Saturday afternoons at the football. I soon progressed to some of the 'safer' home matches, regularly going with my elder brother and then at 10 or 11, would not think anything of jumping on the train at Mile End and going to see the Hammers with a couple of mates of a similar age. It is hard to imagine any kids at the age going to football.
I then started going to the North Bank for the 70's and what wonderful memories they bring.
Did not think I'd get to see them at home again, but spotted your thread, and got my ticket.
It promises to be one hell of a roller coaster evening for me.
